CULTIVATE HOPE WELCOMES YOU
Who We Are
A DISTINCT EXPERIENCE
We are Darin & Melissa Burgess, Founders and Directors of Cultivate Hope. Our experience began in 2010 in the Masindi District of Uganda. Our first efforts were strictly Gospel based by way of Women's Conferences and Discipleship Events. Several short-term trips later, in 2015 we felt God urging us to take the plunge and live in Uganda for the year. Our family had an amazing time deepening relationships with our friends, learning how to effectively offer spiritual empowerment, developing economic assistance, and growing as individuals. We want to invite you to partner with as our journey continues. By giving you are playing an active tangible role as a part of our team. Generosity is an opportunity available to us all. What an exciting time to be alive in Christ and endeavor to reach to the most remote corners of the world and CULTIVATE HOPE!
For several years we have been cultivating a project to meet the specific needs of the women in the Masindi District of western Uganda. Project Masindi was launched in 2015 as a program that offers spiritual and economic empowerment to village women throughout Uganda.
"My worth is defined solely by Christ Jesus. I am who He says I am"
BIBLICAL EMPOWERMENT CURRICULUM
BECAUSE OF THEIR SOCIAL CONDITION, THE SIMPLE TRUTH THAT GOD LOVES THEM AND WANTS TO USE THEM IN HIS KINGDOM WORK IS REVOLUTIONARY.
We partner with the local church to meet with groups of women 1 day a week over the course of 6 weeks. They receive copies of the curriculum in their local language, study Bible Stories about powerful Believers, and break off into small groups to discuss relevant questions that encourage self reflection. The women that attend 4 of the 6 weeks receive a certificate of completion to celebrate their faithfulness and accomplishment. By the end of the 6 weeks the women's view of themselves and their personal worth is completely transformed as they see themselves as God sees them. We have many testimonies of how the women realizing their full worth in Christ has brought restoration to marriages, peace to households, and impacted entire communities.
INVESTING IN POTENTIAL
The people of Uganda are innovative, creative, and extremely hard-working. Through the years we have offered various solutions to empower them as they manage life in a nation with a broken economic system. For women, we have offered micro-loans, launched pig businesses, and provided basic business training seminars. Our approach to the economic needs have evolved according to the needs of the women. Currently we are offering basic business training to each village church that receives the Biblical Empowerment Curriculum lessons. Those that attend receive information on profit, expense, capital, integrity, and an accounting record book to get them started. We believe that equipping hard-working individuals to improve the return on their efforts is an investment into the long-term business potential of village men and women.
Since 2010 we have been building relationships with two very special women. Pictured above: Nyakato Pamela (far left) and Mwesigwa Enid (far right). These two ladies have been with us since the launch of Project Masindi. They have a passion for the women of Uganda and they love reaching out to them. Pamela is the Local Project Manager and Enid is the Curriculum Supervisor. They have truly grown by leaps and bounds through the years as they have been mentored and empowered to lead. We are also mentoring 3 upcoming teachers-in-training which will expand our reach with the Empowerment Curriculum across Uganda and East Africa. These are the beautiful hands and feet of Project Masindi. Together, we each offer our time, gifts, and skills to empower women and expand the Kingdom of God!

KNOWING GOD'S WORD, REACHING GOD'S WORLD
DISCIPLESHIP FOCUSED CHURCH PLANT
Recently we have begun a partnership with a church plant in Kampala, Uganda. CCI (Christ Chapel International) is a discipleship focused church plant endeavoring to train and develop leaders, begin a church planting movement, and directly address the need for Biblically trained Pastors throughout Uganda.
Lead Pastors Dr. Richard Bogere and Rian Bogere have been our friends for many years. It was an honor when they asked us to become a part of their team of Pastors at CCI. Together we share the responsibilities of developing this church plant spiritually, financially, and socially. The church began with 25 and is now at 65. The vision is to develop Biblically grounded Believers, plant more churches, and offer tangible solutions as we reach out to those in need.
If you would like to partner with CCI in prayer or finances, contact us!
